At The Station
1976. After a two year abscence from Britain, David Bowie arrives at London’s Victoria Station. A P.A. system is set up on the platorm but isn’t working so David leaves without making any statement. As his car prepares to leave he stands up in it and waves to fans. The next day a photo appears in the press showing him giving a “nazi salute” in mid-wave. Bowie is far from happy.
1988. Elton John‘s manager, John Reid, is fined £ 150 at Bow Street Magistrates’ Court for assaulting “The Sun” journalist, Rick Sky on May 16th at a party after a show by Whitney Houston. Sky received three stitches to a wound on the back of the head, allegedly when Reid bashed his head against a pillar five times. Reid apologised in court, claiming he’d “had a few drinks”. His action had been sparked by seeing Sky confronting Elton.
1995. Travis Tritt collapses in a Nashville recording studio. He is taken to the city’s hospital where he is found to be suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. Doctors keep him in over night before releasing him the next morning.

1987. Classical guitarist Andres Segovia dies of a heart attack aged 94.
