1946. Tony Ashton (Ashton, Gardner & Dyke) born in Blackburn, Lancashire.
1974. Fans storm the stage during Slade‘s concert at Dundee’s Caird Hall, causing £ 1,000 worth of damage. Several female fans need hospital treatment for hysteria.
1997. First Ammendment attourney Paul Cambria, acting for Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osbourne and promoters Delsner-Slater files a lawsuit against the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey for violating their free speech rights. The arena has refused to sell tickets for the June 15th Ozzfest unless Manson is taken off the bill.
On The Street
1975. The Rolling Stones announce their new tour of the U.S.A. at a press conference in New York. The press are called to Feathers in the city’s Greenwich Village where they are stalled by the ramblings of Professor Irwin Corey. After half an hour, DJ Don Imus runs in with a megafone announcing “the Stones have arrived”. The assembled hacks hit the sidewalk to see a flatbed truck coming down 5th Avenue with The Stones belting out “Brown Sugar” in the rain. The ten minute version of the song stops when the truck arrives at Washington Square where the band exchanges the wet flatbed for dry limos and disappears.

1965. Arranger and big band leader, Spike Jones dies in Bel Air, California.
