1948. George Kooymans (Golden Earring) born in The Hague, Netherlands.

On The Beach

1979. Pop singer Ziggy Byfield, who appeared in the rock musicals “The Rocky Horror Show” and “Hair”, is feared drowned after his clothes are discovered on the beach near Worthing pier. He had disappeared on March 8th after telling his wife he was going to the coast to take the air. It’s reported that he had been suffering from depression.

In Court

1971. At the Divorce Court in London, Helen Shapiro lodges a petition to end her marriage to theatrical producer Duncan Watson. The action will be undefended

In Hospital

1965. P.J. Proby is booked into a London nusing home for three days rest after cancelling a concert at Manchester’s Belle Vue yesterday. His manager describes the singer as suffering from throat problems and flu and said Proby would have to change his singing style to avoid further throat trouble.

On Television

1967. The Monkees (NBC, U.S.A.) with an episode entitled, “Monkees Blow Their Minds”.


1986. Sonny Terry (real name Saunders Terrell) dies in New York City, aged 74.
