1950. David Johansen (The New York Dolls) born in Staten Island, New York.

On Tour

1980. During a day-long private visit to the Scottish county of Fife, Johnny Cash reveals that he is a direct descendent of the Earls Of Fife and has been able to trace his family tree back to 1435. Having obtained an ancient map showing the tiny village of Case (pronounced Cash) from which his family came, he was keen to visit the area and take in the local views and history for himself. Many places in the locale still carry the name Cash – Cash Loch, Cash Feus, Cash Mill and Easter and Wester Cash.

In Court

1997. Gina Schock files a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against her fellow former Go-Go’s. The suit, against The Go-Go’s Partnership and songwriter Charlotte Caffey alleges breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Schock claims that Caffey failed to account for royalties which she should have been paid since the group broke up in 1985.

In Hospital

1999. Rohan Marley, 26, son of the late reggae superstar, Bob Marley and husband to Lauryn Hill has to be freed from his blazing BMW outside a New York recording studio where he was waiting for his wife. Marley had dozed off with the engine running. When he awoke the interior of the car was filled with smoke and neither the windows nor the doors would open as the car’s electrical system was destroyed by the fire in the engine compartment. Two police officers on the scene saw Marley’s hands against the window. One, officer Joe Segura smashed the window with his nightstick and together they managed to force the door open. Marley was taken to hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation before being released.

On Television


1995. Comedian Peter Cook dies in the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, from severe bleeding associated with liver disease. He had always had a strong connection with rock music and musicians but will be best remembered for his characters on the Godley & Creme album “Consequences” and as presenter of the TV show, “Revolver”.
